Research direction
Start by reviewing the current client interface described in the issue, where callers provide a URL and path, and compare it with restify/node-restify#843. Determine the intended common URL interface for HttpClient, StringClient, and JsonClient; the work is done when the interface is clearly specified and consistently standardized across the clients.
