Description

Alexander Gallego claimed on Twitter that every usage of Benthos must now be renamed to Redpanda Connect.

I understand why that's in the best interest of Redpanda (free marketing).

That's also a move that erodes trust both in Benthos and Open Source in general.

Seeing that Benthos still exists as a library (and technically there is still a benthos cmd package) it would be nice to clarify whether that's actually true, because I imagine it would put a pretty heavy burden on every benthos user out there to eliminate all appearances of "benthos".

Plus benthos is actually a name (brand) known to people out there. Why destroy it?

Research direction

The issue mentions the Benthos library and the benthos command package but names no files or tests. First seek a maintainer decision on whether Benthos may remain as a name; done means documenting a clear, authoritative naming policy for existing users and the project.
