Feature Request: AI-Powered Bengali Subtitle Translation

Hi CloudStream developers,

I have a feature request that could be very useful for users who watch movies in languages where Bengali subtitles are often unavailable.

Would it be possible to add an AI-powered automatic subtitle translation feature to CloudStream?

For example:

English Subtitle → AI Translation → Bengali Subtitle

If a movie has English subtitles but no Bengali subtitles, CloudStream could optionally use an AI translation service to translate them into natural Bengali and display them directly in the player.

It would be especially useful for Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada and other South Indian movies, where Bengali subtitles are often difficult to find.

Ideally, the AI should preserve the meaning, context, emotion, timing, and character relationships, rather than simply translating word-for-word.

I understand that this may be technically challenging and may require an external AI API, so even an optional feature would be greatly appreciated.

This feature would make CloudStream much more accessible for Bengali-speaking users.

• I have searched the existing issues and this is a new ticket, NOT a duplicate or related to another open issue.

The issue names no files, tests, or entry points. Start by reviewing how CloudStream currently obtains and displays subtitles, then scope an optional external AI translation flow for Bengali output. Done would require a defined integration, preserved subtitle timing, and a way to enable or disable the feature.
