Description

Homebrew supports versioning but SwiftLint does not currently appear to be taking advantage of this. We're off of CocoaPods and using SPM gave us some sort of obnoxious difficulties when using internal libraries because of version conflicts.

If SwiftLint supported versions in homebrew we could put swiftlint@<version> in our brewfile and be good to go. As it stands, however, because we use strict mode every release tends to break us, which is a lot more cumbersome than intended.

Research direction

Start with the linked Homebrew Versions documentation and investigate how SwiftLint is currently distributed through Homebrew; the issue does not name a repository file or test. Done means users can request a specific SwiftLint version in a Brewfile, avoiding release-driven upgrades that break strict-mode workflows.
