Description

Description

When adding padding to a <Text /> element, onPress event are caught in the padding area on iOS rather than the text itself.

On Android, the text is clickable, but so is the padding area.

This happens with new architecture enabled.

Steps to reproduce
  1. Open the provided expo snack
  2. Click above the "Click me!" text
  3. Alert should come up
  4. Click the "Click me!" text
  5. This time no alert comes up

Research direction

Start with the mandatory Expo Snack and reproduce the padding hit-testing behavior with the new architecture on both iOS and Android. Then trace React Native Text press handling and bounding-box calculation for the affected platforms. Done means taps in padding do not trigger the press while taps on the text still do, with regression coverage for both platforms.
