Description
Description
When VoiceOver is enabled on an iOS device, closing a modal by clicking the cancel button causes the focus to shift back to the first element of the screen instead of the button that triggered the modal. This issue negatively impacts the user experience for visually impaired users who rely on VoiceOver for navigation.
Steps to reproduce
- Ensure VoiceOver is enabled on the iOS device.
- Open the React Native application.
- Navigate to the screen that includes a header, body, and a button at the bottom of the screen.
- Click the button at the bottom of the screen to open the modal.
- Within the modal, click the cancel button to close the modal.
- Observe the focus behavior once the modal is closed.

Research direction
Start by running the linked accessibility_poc reproducer in React Native 0.74 on iOS with VoiceOver enabled, then follow the listed modal and cancel-button steps. Confirm the observed focus destination after closing the modal and compare it with the expected behavior: focus should return to the button that opened it. No source file or test is named, so locating the relevant modal and accessibility-focus handling is part of the investigation.
