Description
On android chrome the mention doesn't appear when I enter only @. When I write any character after @ then it is getting triggered. Perhaps the problem is related to the fact that the event key is not assigned to '@' , but to 'Unidentified'. Only reproduced on real devices.

Research direction
Start by reproducing the issue on a real Android device using Chrome, entering @ alone and then @ followed by a character. Inspect the mention-triggering keyboard event and its handling when the key is reported as "Unidentified". Done means entering @ alone opens the mention suggestions on Android Chrome.
