Description

What problem are you are trying to solve?

I want rclone to have the same support for file permissions/etc that rsync provides with SFTP.

How do you think rclone should be changed to solve that?

I believe the implementation is as simple as turning on metadata support for SFTP for mode, uid, gid, atime, mtime.

Research direction

Start by locating rclone's SFTP backend and its existing metadata support, then compare how other backends expose file permissions and timestamps. Confirm the supported metadata fields and add coverage for mode, uid, gid, atime, and mtime so SFTP transfers preserve them as requested.
