Description
Summary
Add a dedicated action in the Slack Raycast extension to enable Slack’s native Focus Mode (Deep Focus Mode) directly from Raycast.
This would allow users to instantly enter a distraction-reduced workflow without needing to open Slack manually.
Problem
The current Slack extension already supports useful productivity actions such as:
- searching chats
- viewing unread messages
- snoozing notifications
- setting presence status
However, there is currently no quick action for activating Slack Focus Mode / Deep Focus Mode.
Slack itself now supports a dedicated focus mode experience that:
- pauses notifications
- minimizes visual distractions
- changes sidebar notification behavior
- optionally allows VIP notifications
- automatically updates user status
For users heavily relying on Raycast as their workflow launcher, this feels like a missing productivity shortcut.
Proposed Solution
Add a new command/action such as:
- Enable Focus Mode
- Toggle Focus Mode
- Start Deep Focus Session
Potential options:
- choose duration (30m / 1h / 2h / indefinite)
- allow VIP notifications toggle
- optional custom Slack status while enabled
Suggested UX
Example flow:
- Open Raycast
- Run “Slack: Enable Focus Mode”
- Select duration
- Slack enters Focus Mode immediately
Optional:
- allow assigning a hotkey
- expose as AI Action
- integrate with Raycast Focus sessions
Why This Matters
This would make the Slack extension significantly more aligned with Raycast’s productivity-first philosophy.
Current workflow requires:
- opening Slack
- manually enabling focus mode
- selecting duration
With Raycast, this could become a single shortcut.
Additional Ideas
Future enhancements could include:
- syncing with Raycast Focus
- automatically changing Slack presence
- enabling macOS Do Not Disturb simultaneously
- auto-restoring previous status after session ends

Start by reviewing the Slack extension at the linked Raycast extension page and the referenced Slack Focus Mode documentation. Confirm the supported integration and narrow the proposed options to a defined action; done means a Raycast command can enable Slack's native Focus Mode with an agreed user flow.
