Description

#lang typed/racket

(call-with-input-string "abcd" (lambda: ([input : Input-Port]) (values 'a 'b)))

That does not type check, but annotating the expression with (Values 'a 'b) does.

Research direction

Start by reproducing the typed/racket example using call-with-input-string, the annotated lambda argument, and the two returned symbols. Compare the inferred result with the explicit (Values 'a 'b) annotation, then trace the type-checking path for multiple return values. Done means the unannotated expression type checks consistently, with regression coverage for this example.
