legend.hist does not work in 'view' mode

Hi.
Firstly, thanks for this amazing library.
I believe there is a problem plotting histograms using the interactive 'view' mode.
library(tmap)
data("World")
map <- tm_shape(World) +
tm_polygons(col="pop_est", legend.hist = T)
tmap_mode("plot")
map # <<< WORKS
tmap_mode("view")
map # <<< DOES NOT WORK
Is there a workaround/fix planned for this please?

Research direction
Run the provided World/tmap example in both plot and view modes, using the legend.hist option on tm_polygons. Compare the working plot output with view mode and trace the histogram rendering path. Done means the same histogram legend renders correctly in interactive view mode.
