Research direction

Locate the reference documentation covering field indexing and storage. Document how to configure a text field to be stored without being indexed, and determine whether the existing explanation or indexing model needs reconsideration. Done when the reference clearly explains the supported configuration and its resulting behavior.

Written by the indexing model from the issue text.
