Description
I recently found out that I was running a fairly old version of Quarto. It would be useful to have an option or a feature which would check the version and let users know if there version out of date. (quarto --version gives the current version information, but does not check against the sources.)
It would really be great if there was a Debian PPA I could subscribe to which would automate the updates.

Research direction
Start with the quarto --version entry point and determine how a version check against update sources would fit the existing command behavior. Done means the requested out-of-date notification is defined and verified, with the Debian PPA request explicitly included or separated from the scope.
