Description

I remember that macOS support was added a while back ago. However, when attempting to compile on Mac, I run into the following issue:

In file included from third_party/gloo/gloo/transport/tcp/device.h:19:
third_party/gloo/gloo/transport/tcp/loop.h:17:10: fatal error: 'sys/epoll.h' file not found
#include <sys/epoll.h>
         ^~~~~~~~~~~~~

My understanding is that epoll is not available outside of Linux systems. Is there a workaround?

Research direction

Start by inspecting third_party/gloo/gloo/transport/tcp/loop.h and the include of sys/epoll.h reported in the build error. Check how the TCP transport currently handles platform-specific headers, then determine what is needed for macOS compilation. Done means the reported missing-header failure is resolved or a documented workaround is established.
