Description

Hi

FYI America/Winnipeg time zone will remain on DST permanently, effective immediately. The next time it would have switched from DST is Sunday, November 1, 2026. Unfortunately, that means there will be a difference in what happens on Sunday, Nov 1 2026

Here is the news release from the governing body making the change
https://news.gov.mb.ca/news/print,index.html?item=75397&posted=2026-09-17

Here is the time zone:

Will this affect the datetime package?

Research direction

Start by reviewing the datetime package's handling of the America/Winnipeg timezone and the linked Manitoba news release. Determine whether the reported permanent DST change requires a CPython change; the work is done when the package's impact and any necessary update are established.
