Description
Feature or enhancement
Proposal:
Add BuiltinImporter.discover to make it:
class BuiltinImporter:
@staticmethod
def discover(spec=None):
if spec is not None: # assume that built-in modules have no submodule
return
yield from sys.builtin_module_names

Research direction
Start at the BuiltinImporter.discover entry point described in the issue and inspect how built-in module discovery is handled. Done means built-in module names are discoverable without treating submodules as supported; check the linked PR gh-146421 before starting because the work may already be underway.
