Research direction
Start by reviewing the linked sybil/integration/pytest.py example around line 41 and the pytest.Item fixture-requesting behavior it works around. Trace the relevant pytest.Item and fixture machinery, then establish a supported API and tests showing that an Item subclass can request fixtures without copying that code.
