No checks are implemented on the language variable in setup.py

Description
Dear all,
it seems that no checks are implemented on the language variable defined as part of an Extension in setup.py. I can set it to language='jadshad' and the installation process would still work. For example, writing language='C++', the language is not correctly interpreted as C++ (it should be language='c++'). If you point me in the right direction (where to look in the repo), I would be happy to try to tackle this issue.
