Description

Description

I would be nice for debugging/benchmarking to be allowed to do function(inputs, outputs, mode='python'). This would use the PerformLinker() with default rewrites (excluding things like blas_opt that introduces Ops with no perform method).

Research direction

Start in mode.py and trace how function accepts and configures linker options. Read PerformLinker and its default rewrites, then verify that mode='python' selects the requested defaults while excluding rewrites that add Ops without perform methods.
