Operating system

Bug description

Processing 4.5.2 does not run on Pop!_OS 24.04 LTS. It just show black window. I tried to launch from Linux x64 portable release. I also tried forking and cloning the source and building from InteliJIDEA - same behaviour. There is no explicit error. Just fails silently and it hangs as a black window. The same is true fro version 4.3 so this is some incompatibility between Pop!_OS 24.04 LTS and Linux portable version. I even installed Java JDK 17 using apt.

Steps to reproduce this
  1. install Pop!_OS 24.04 LTS

  2. Run Processing 4.5.2 Portable Linux x64 version

  3. Black window will apear

Research direction

Start by reproducing the black-window behavior with the Processing 4.5.2 portable Linux x64 release on Pop!_OS 24.04 LTS, then compare it with the source build attempted in IntelliJ IDEA and the Java JDK 17 environment. Done means Processing launches normally instead of hanging on a black window, with the cause and verification steps documented.
