Description

Prettier 3.8.1
Playground link

--parser babel

Input:

const foo    = AVeryLongLine();       // prettier-ignore
const bar123 = AnotherVeryLongLine(); // prettier-ignore

Output:

const foo    = AVeryLongLine(); // prettier-ignore
const bar123 = AnotherVeryLongLine(); // prettier-ignore

Expected output:
Identical to input

Why?

Entire line should be ignored. prettier is dropping the whitespace before its own comment

Research direction

Start with the linked Prettier Playground reproduction using the Babel parser and compare the Input, Output, and Expected output snippets. Trace how prettier-ignore handles the whitespace before its own trailing comment. Done means the entire ignored line, including that whitespace, remains identical to the input; verify the reproduction in the Playground.
