Debian Linux

  • stable
  • easy to maintain

Tiling window manager

  • Regolith desktop (i3 out of the box with a few Gnome tools)
  • Hyprland (once its stable and has a nice set of tools to create a desktop environment)

Terminal & Shell

Kitty
zsh
prezto or ohmyzsh (termux)

Editor

  • Neovim ludicrously fast and very feature rich, low use of memory and cpu whist still providing IDE like features
  • Emacs an operating system within an editor, excellent editing tool with Evil

Graphics

  • GIMP
  • Inkscape
  • Scribus

Audiovisuals

OBS screencasts and broadcasts
Blender video editing
Audacity sound editing & capture
Handbrake video conversion
Opus tools - high quality compression for sounds with small file footprint
