Description
In some situations, customers may not be able to start the product at all. Tools provided within the product, like Connect's system checks, run within the product and cannot diagnose issues at a higher level. vip could act as an externalized testing tool in these cases that could help diagnose configuration, authentication, network, or package dependency issues.
This was an idea brought up during the Connect feedback session. This could be out of scope as vip seems primarily focused on playwright based testing.

Research direction
Start by reviewing vip's existing Playwright-based testing scope and the listed configuration, authentication, network, and package-dependency use cases. Done requires a defined, accepted scope for on-host installation checks; the issue names no files or tests to run.
