Description
positron-test-electron now supports macOS, Linux, and Windows desktop app archives. For Linux/Windows, daily and pinned versions are available now for 2026.08-X versions. However, latest stable does not exist yet on the stable CDN path because the first stable publish including these archives has not happened yet. To be clear:
• daily works for Linux/Windows
• pinned versions work when the requested archive exists
• latest stable for Linux/Windows is expected to start working with the next stable release published from the new archive workflow
The archive publishing work is merged in https://github.com/posit-dev/positron-builds/pull/1113, so this should resolve naturally on the next stable cut. When the next stable release occurs, we should update this repo.

Research direction
Start by reviewing how positron-test-electron selects Positron desktop archives and its existing tests; the issue names no specific file. After the next stable release, update the repository so latest stable works for Linux and Windows, then verify that daily and pinned versions still work for available archives.
