Description

Weirdly it seems onUpdate frequently does not get called after editing an axis label. It does sometimes, but not even close to every time. My understanding of the callback is that it should get called any time the layout updates. The axis definition lives inside layout, so updating the axis should hypothetically trigger onUpdate, right?

Research direction

Start by reproducing axis-label edits and tracing the component's onUpdate handling alongside layout updates; the payload names no files or tests. Done means the callback is reliably invoked after axis-label changes whenever the layout updates, with regression coverage for the intermittent behavior.
