Description
Hi,
it seems I recently stumbled across some tooltip bug while hover
over concealed traces when using scattergl as trace type.
Please have a look at following example:
https://codepen.io/Mampf404/pen/OJgwbNb
-
Scatter traces behave correctly. The last rendered trace is the one who is displayed in the the tooltip.
-
Scattergl traces instead, displaying the first rendered (underlying) trace, which seems not correct.

Research direction
Start by reproducing the overlapping-trace hover behavior in the linked CodePen example, comparing scatter and scattergl. Trace the scattergl hover and tooltip entry points to identify where rendered-trace order is selected. Done means the topmost overlapping trace is shown consistently and the example behavior is covered by a regression test.
