Description

Reproducible example: https://codepen.io/tcummin2/pen/mdONbwG

  1. Either zoom with the mousewheel, pan with the mouse, or manually adjust the axes
  2. Any bars that overflow the y-axis will disappear.

Autoscaling or resetting the axes does not fix this. Moreover, the issue does not occur while using the zoom in/out modebar controls.

Research direction

Start by running the reproducible CodePen example and compare mousewheel zoom or pan with the modebar zoom controls. Trace the axis behavior when another trace uses cliponaxis: false; done means bars overflowing the y-axis remain visible after zooming, panning, or manually adjusting the axes.
