Description

Hi,
I was looking for adding gradient to sankey links. I would like to reproduce a diagram like this:

I'm highly interested in such an option for R, because I'm a developer of Shiny apps. At the moment, it would be sufficient for me to know a workaround solution, for example custom JS code I could use to add gradients after a sankey diagram is already rendered.

Research direction

Start by locating the Sankey plot implementation and the rendering path for its links. Compare the requested reference image with the current rendered diagram, then determine whether gradients can be supported directly or only through custom JavaScript after rendering. Done means Sankey links visibly support the requested gradient behavior or the issue documents a working workaround.
