Description

hoveron: 'fills' does not seem to work correctly with regular scatter traces filled to next or zero. It misses big parts of the fill and includes some regions that are outside the fill.

Research direction

Reproduce the reported hoveron: 'fills' behavior with regular scatter traces filled to next or zero, using the linked animation as the expected visual reference. Investigate why hover regions miss parts of the fill or extend outside it; done means hover areas match the rendered fill for both fill modes.
