Description

In this PR in the Python-API (https://github.com/plotly/python-api/pull/183) I'm displaying and caching an image as the iframe loads. Our new embed code similarly displays an image as the iframe waits to load.

We should probably explore one of those two solutions for the kintr pubs

Research direction

Start by reviewing the linked Python-API pull request and the new embed code described in the issue, then identify the knitr publication entry point involved. Done means selecting and implementing one of the proposed image display and caching approaches for the iframe loading state, with matching coverage for the affected behavior.
