Description

Google calendar uses a rather ugly in-band symbol -::~:~::~:~:~:~:~:~:~:~:~:~:~:~:~:~:~:~:~:~:~:~:~:~:~:~:~:~:~:~:~:~:~:~:~:~:~:~::~:~::- to manage video call information inside of an event. Unfortunately, if I set up a hook in vdirsyncer to replace that with something prettier, google calendar automatically restores it. So it seems like it's there to stay.

Therefore, if I wanted to filter or replace that text so it didn't show up in khal, I think it would have to be at the display level, with some kind of programmatic filter that I could pass the description through before printing.

Would such a feature be possible?

Research direction

Start by tracing how khal displays event descriptions and compare that with the vdirsyncer hook mentioned in the issue. Define the desired filtering interface, including where it is configured and how replacements should appear, then verify the behavior with representative Google Calendar descriptions.
