Description

Description

While we should not do that by default (at least until https://github.com/libgd/libgd/pull/692 is available), it makes sense to give users that option right away. This would be a good preparation for unbundling our bundled libgd in the future.

PS: the issue came up in https://github.com/libgd/libgd/issues/845, reported by @nono303.

Research direction

Start in ext/gd and trace the Windows build configuration, focusing on how the bundled libgd is selected. Review the external libgd request and libgd pull request 692 for compatibility constraints. Done means Windows users can opt into an external libgd while the bundled library remains the default.
