Description

Linux hauke-desktop 5.7.0-1-amd64 #1 SMP Debian 5.7.6-1 (2020-06-24) x86_64 GNU/Linux
Mozilla Firefox 68.10.0esr
Vimium-FF 1.66

This issue is simple: The HUD is missing in insertion mode (it is not disabled in the options). Since the behaviour in Chromium is the way I expected it (it shows up there), I guess this is a bug.

Research direction

Reproduce the missing HUD in Firefox 68.10.0esr while using insertion mode, then compare the same behavior in Chromium with Vimium-FF 1.66. Trace the Firefox-specific insertion-mode path; done means the HUD appears when it is not disabled in the options, matching Chromium behavior.
