` (open mark) not working (qwertz // german layout)

Description
Hi everybody,
I live in Germany and use the qwertz keyboard layout. The backtick ` requires me to press the ' button and shift to trigger, but when I do this, no mark will be opened.
Let's say I me (or mE, doesn't make a difference) somewhere, then `E / `e, nothing will happen. Can I re-map this button? Or are any German users here that can help me figure out how to access my marks?
