Description

In Chrome Version 74.0.3729.157 (Official Build) (64-bit), some sites that use a Vim layout do not work all the way. If i use /<C-[> to exit insert mode, Vimium gets the input first and uses it to exit the text area.

To reproduce - go to a site like https://www.openvim.com/ and try to exit using /<C-[>. When using Vimium, it will exit the entire text area.

Research direction

Start by reproducing the issue in Chrome 74 on openvim.com with Vimium enabled, testing both Esc and Ctrl-[ while editing. Trace the keyboard handling involved in leaving insert mode and verify that Vimium no longer exits the text area before the editor; confirm the behavior without Vimium as a comparison.
