Description
Some time after starting chromium, Vimium's CPU usage will suddenly spike to 100%. This has been happening for a few days now, I think since before the latest update. I have tried rebooting and restarting Chromium, but the issue keeps happening.

After killing the Vimium process and restarting it, it immediately goes back to 100% CPU usage:

System:
Chromium Version 63.0.3239.84 (Developer Build) (64-bit)
Arch Linux

Research direction
Start by reproducing the CPU spike in Chromium 63.0.3239.84 on Arch Linux using the reported restart sequence, and compare behavior with Vimium disabled. Use the screenshots and the timing details to narrow down what triggers the sustained usage; done means identifying a reproducible cause and confirming that the spike no longer occurs.
