[Bug] Plasma desktop broken after suspending

Description:

When I push the suspend button on the keyboard or use it from the menu, my system obviously suspends.

However, when I wake up the system, and unlock, I am usually greeted with any windows that weren't minimized, and a working Karousel, but the rest of the desktop is missing/broken. No background, no taskbar, no widgets, nothing. If I press the super key I can bring up the menu, and I have a desktop shortcut to restart plasma (below).

If I disable Karousel, I have not been able to reproduce this issue, so it has something to do with either Karousel or KWin.

I have pretty weak hardware (dual core with hyperthreading), and I have had problems with this sort of thing in other software, so it might be related:

Start by reproducing suspend and resume on Wayland with Karousel enabled, then compare the behavior with Karousel disabled. Use the provided plasmashell --replace desktop entry only as a recovery step; done means the desktop background, taskbar, widgets, and other Plasma components remain available after unlocking.
