Description
Expected Behavior
.set, when called directly in IPython, should show some sort of warning/error and stop the execution. This is done often accidentally at LCLS and will continue to cause issues.

Research direction
No file or test is named. Start by locating the IPython launcher or command-handling entry point and trace how a direct .set invocation is processed. Done means an accidental direct invocation emits a warning or error and stops execution, with coverage for that behavior.
