[Deployment] Kubernetes: K3s and Helm

About

We would like omniload to provide excellent ergonomics when deploying to Kubernetes. Let's start by using Kubernetes Jobs to run a one-off task with omniload as payload, provisioned using a Helm chart. We are not too fluent with K8s or Helm details, so a quick search revealed two example Helm charts ^1 which could be used as a starting point.

Tests

We would like to be able to automatically test this end-to-end on both our workstations and on an off-the-shelf CI environment, optimally GitHub Actions. Is K3s a good candidate to run a little Kubernetes cluster for such purposes? Is it possible to run on GHA?

Documentation

The feature/outcome should be documented well and easy for users to follow and exercise. Currently, there is no corresponding place in the documentation, so let's start a new section install/managed/, to bundle all information about installation on managed infrastructure?

Distribution

The Helm charts want to be published to corresponding package registries or marketplaces.

Start by reviewing the Kubernetes Jobs documentation and the two linked example Helm charts. Evaluate whether K3s can provide end-to-end tests on workstations and GitHub Actions. Done means a Helm-based Kubernetes deployment, automated tests, documentation in install/managed/, and a plan for publishing the chart to package registries or marketplaces.
