Description

While I like the new logo, I feel it is a bit unbalanced and the text input cursor (it should resemble one, right?) is a bit hard to grok.

I have made a few tweaks (however just to a screenshot of the logo, not the SVG source) to illustrate what I mean.

What applies both to the square logo as well as the wide one:

  • The kerning of the symbols on black can be improved to look more uniformly distributed.
  • The vertical and horizontal placement could be more centric.

In addition, for the wide logo:

  • Narrow the text cursor (to not look like letters I and l).
  • Move text cursor closer to the letter right before it (though in what seem to be "usual text editing software" it is even closer, but one might want to keep downscaling of the logo in mind).
  • Move up content of white area a bit.

For comparison, here are the current logos (in the top left) and my suggestions (both top right and lower left; use reference lines in an image editor to help compare them to the original) in juxtaposition to each other.

Research direction

Start by locating the square and wide logo SVG sources in the repository and compare them with the attached reference screenshots. Apply the requested spacing, centering, cursor, and white-area adjustments to both logo variants, then verify that the resulting assets match the stated visual goals at different sizes.
