Unexpected new line in switch assignements

I'm using Spotless with palantirJavaFormat() and this code:

var result = switch (target) {
        case "foo" -> "foo";
        case "bar" -> "bar";
        default -> "default";
};

is formatted like this:

var result =
        switch (target) {
            case "foo" -> "foo";
            case "bar" -> "bar";
            default -> "default";
        };

where I wouldn't expect the new line after the = sign. Is this a bug, or do I have wrong expectations?
