Research direction
Start by reading the mentioned Node.Encode method and how callers currently obtain a node's byte length. Determine the scope of a non-allocating length operation and how it should relate to encoding. Done means callers can obtain the byte length without allocating an output buffer and the result remains consistent with encoded output.
