Description

It would be helpful if you could get notifications (either a pop-up notification, email, or otherwise) when certain thresholds are met. Example, I'd be interested in getting a notification when heap space usage is > x.

Would be nice if it would be abstracted, such that you could create plugins that subscribe to 'events' (triggers) happening and they could integrate with whatever you want. Ie, a plugin for email notifications, or a plugin for slack notifications, etc.

Research direction

No files, tests, or entry points are named. Start by locating VisualVM's monitoring and plugin APIs, then determine how threshold events and notification integrations should be designed; done would require agreed trigger behavior plus working pop-up, email, or Slack plugin support.
