Description

oci is already available in the official repositories for some Linux distributions, but not for Ubuntu. For Ubuntu, we need to use a script that will download and setup on the machine, but does not provide a streamlined way of uninstalling/updating oci. For that, we need a .deb package in a PPA.

Please consider setting up a PPA for Ubuntu. UX, reliability, and security of managing packages via apt-get is way superior than using shell scripts.

Research direction

The issue names no files or tests. Start by locating the existing shell installer and the project's release or packaging entry points, then assess how Ubuntu PPA publishing would fit. Done means an Ubuntu .deb is available through a PPA and supports streamlined apt-get installation, updating, and removal.
