Description:
I'm currently working with terraform and the vsphere provider and I want to push the created VMDK from OpenWrt into a vcenter and create a template. This works so far 🎉
But now I have a problem that I can not change the IP address on cloning this template.
I think it's somehow the open-vm-tools, because I think they don't support OpenWrt.
Can you help me maybe there further.
I have also created a Debian VMs and there the IP are adjusted.
So this must be somehow related to OpenWrt and the open-vm-tools.
Do you have any hint on what this could be.
And how it's all connected.
Google was not exactly a help.

Research direction
The issue names OpenWrt, open-vm-tools, Terraform, and VMware vCenter but no source files or tests. Start by reproducing the clone with the reported OpenWrt and VMware environment, then trace how the network configuration is handled compared with Debian. Done means identifying the cause and establishing a supported fix or clearly documented limitation.
