The behaviour supported by flatten_keys is not the intended behaviour and is only added to prevent pipelines using this release from breaking. This needs to be removed in the next major version release as the current behaviour was not the original intention.

Research direction

Start by locating add_entries and its flatten_keys handling in the Data Prepper codebase, then inspect the surrounding pipeline behavior and any existing tests. Done means flatten_keys is no longer supported by add_entries in the next major release, with affected behavior covered by the relevant tests.
