Description

OpenSSL added async mode somewhat recently. The mode is useful with crypto acceleration hardware. When async mode is activated, a crash is observed in Lua certificate callback.

Check out linked issues for additional details and the fix.

Research direction

Start by reading the linked LuaJIT issue 25 and OpenSSL issue 6864 for the additional details and proposed fix. Then inspect the Lua certificate callback path and reproduce the crash with OpenSSL async mode enabled. Done means async mode no longer crashes in the Lua certificate callback.
