Description
problem
Journals do not have a structured way of filling in necessary journal level policy information that is needed for indexing sites and OA best practice, as these policies are muddled together with publisher level policy pages and sections.
solution
The ability to create page items, such as ‘Submissions page items’, on all pages would be extremely useful in order to structure necessary content that we, as publisher, but also journal editors need to populate to satisfy indexing requirements. Such structuring would allow for publisher level and journal level policies to be sorted correctly and displayed on the right pages, and in multiple places if required.
Further, it would be useful to increase the functionality of the nature of page items to enable certain items to be edited by press level users only. These items would then be available to use on journal sites, but should not be able to be edited by journal editors.
alternatives
Continual audits, which are labour intensive and can cause uncertainty/disagreement about division of responsibility between journal and publisher.
Additional context
Discussion so far has focussed on the ability to make page items available to use on all pages and may be able to be rolled out from Janeway 1.6 as the code for this already exists. Could work by abstracting the existing code with a new StructuredPage model.
