Description

Is there any way to require abstracts, but limit that requirement to only some Article Sections? For example, require abstracts for Articles but not for Front Matter or Book Reviews.

  • Move Section selection to Agreements rather than article metadata
  • Add an section level setting allowing to set abstracts as required, note required or use default. (We could have section submission configuration objects for each setting to do this).
  • Article metadata form should make abstract field required/optional based on section and journal submission settings

Research direction

Start by tracing how Section selection, journal submission settings, agreements, and the Article metadata form currently work. Compare the three checklist items with the existing flow and identify where section-level abstract and note settings belong. Done means sections can require, not require, or inherit abstract and note requirements, and the metadata form applies those settings correctly.
