Description

[@KathiSchleidt] Discussion related to Irregular Time Series of Observations.

Regularly spaced time series may use the baseTime and spacing properties of the TimeSeries metadata object. This is not a required property of the metadata object and it's absence doesn't infer any pattern (regular or irregular) on the timeseries itself. Irregular timeseries, although not explicitly discussed in the TSML 1.3 spec, seem to be supported using either of the TimeseriesTVPObservation feature class or TimeseriesDomainRangeObservation feature class.

Research direction

Start by reading the TSML 1.3 specification sections for the TimeSeries metadata object, baseTime, and spacing. Then compare the TimeseriesTVPObservation and TimeseriesDomainRangeObservation feature classes with the issue's regular and irregular series discussion. Done means the intended handling and any required specification or documentation change are clearly identified.
